Star Wars: The Force Awakens

I’ve done it! I’ve finally seen a Star Wars movie! Yes this is my first time in the viewing seat of one of the most popular franchises, but hey I’m still young I got time to make up for that and I’m excited to do it too. Star Wars The Force Awakens more than exceeded it’s expectations for both new and old fans.

The story begins with Poe Dameron played by Oscar Isaac (A Most Violent Year, In Secret, Ex-Machina) and his droid/sidekick BB-8 looking for a map piece that will lead them to the location of the long missing Luke Skywalker; Mark Hamill (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Airborne, Star Wars: Episode IV-A New Hope). However hot on their trails is a new threat to the Galaxy an army that calls themselves the First Order lead by the dark Kylo Ren; Adam Driver (This is Where I leave You, Hungry Hearts, What If) who want that missing map piece to find and destroy the last Jedi. When Poe is captured it’s with the help of wayward Storm Trooper FN-2187/Finn; John Boyega (Imperial Dreams, Attack the Block, Junkhearts) that he makes a daring escape but upon escape they’re separated and crashed on a Junkyard planet. There Finn meets up with Poe’s BB-8 and a Scavenger named Rey; Daisy Ridley (Scrawl) who find themselves suddenly teamed up to escape the capture of the First Order. Yet after escape, they are again captured this time by Han Solo; Harrison Ford (The Devils Own, Cowboys and Aliens, What Lies Beneath) and Chewbacca; Joonas Suotamo and another team up is created! Finn and Rey suddenly find themselves as part of the Resistance and with the dark challenge of stopping the First Order and finding Luke Skywalker.

Sooo from the perspective of one who’s never seen a Star Wars I liked it. I liked it a lot. Star Wars seems to have been around forever and you know the catch phrases and the characters without really needing to know them, however I would still love to see Han Solo and Princess Leia; Carrie Fisher (Charlies Angels: Full Throttle, Cougar Club, Scream 3) play their parts in the previous Star Wars films to see them as they were . Now here’s something to reflect on (and please correct me if I’m wrong), we all know the phrase from Darth Vader ‘Luke I am your father!’ where in the bad guy is family of the good guy, so it’s safe to say that same pattern was followed when we learn that Kylo is the son of Han and Leia, right? Also in the film The Resistance grabs a victory over the First Order by destroying this large planet like cannon…which was like the death star…just bigger. I’ve never seen the previous Star Wars but I am aware of them and correct me if I’m wrong but I’m sensing recycled plots here.

Rated PG-13 for Sci-fi, Action and Violence

Rotten Tomatoes has this exciting adventure at a 95% fresh! I love it!

Some die hard Star Wars fans might not like this so much you guys are very good at finding all the little plot holes that us newbie Star Wars fans could care less about! The best part of all was the light saber battle! That was just awesome to me! Rei and Finn make fantastic new generation leads and I can’t wait to see them in the next movies. This is a great way to start off your Holiday vacation fan’s, new and old alike, enjoy it!
